My Approach

My approach is very much a person centred one, providing a safe space where clients can feel accepted and validated for who they are, and where we can develop a trusting, open and deep therapeutic relationship. My main interest is in helping clients to discover and work through past limiting belief patterns which keep them locked in suffering, and to discover new ways of relating to themselves and the world they live in which allow them to feel more self empowered and to experience and express their true authentic selves. I also employ a Solution Focused approach for short-term work, and can offer individual stress management sessions if required.

About Me

I have been working for many years as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, and have completed various training courses in Person Centred, Humanistic, and Integrative Counselling, as well as Body-Centred approaches, and have a background in meditation, mindfulness, and compassion practices, and non-violent communication. I am currently working with clients both face to face and remotely - online and via the telephone, and have recently completed the UKCP Covid-19 Online Working Guidance.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have found that a multi-level approach has often been very effective, using a combination of mindfulness, breathing exercises, and a body centred appraoch, as well as providing a supportive space where the client can feel fully heard and understood.
Bullying is still very common, in all environments - home, school, and work - and I have a special interest in helping those who are experiencing it to become more confident and self empowered, and to know that it's ok to ask for help and that it's not ok to put up with the bullying.
A lot of my work with clients centres around relationships of one kind or another, and I'm especially interested in helping clients to learn better communication skills through non-violent communication. It often starts with the relationship with oneself, and learning how to be kind towards oneself, before being able to empathise with others,
I have a special interest in spirituality myself and have personally explored many different religions and spiritual paths and I am very interested to hear from others about their own spiritual journeys, to help clients find a meaningful spiritual direction in life, or to resolve ongoing conflicts.
I have an interest in and experience of working with clients who have experienced past trauma, helping them to let go of negative belief patterns that are no longer serving them, and to re-integrate a sense of safety and wellbeing back into their present lives.
