I work from an Integrative perspective believing that many of our unhealthy relationship, work etc patterns, such as anxiety, depression, addictive behaviours are influenced by difficulties in relationships we experienced during our early years. The main theories I use are to provide you with education regarding how you experience events, and help to understand that even some of our most fearful responses are actually completely normal and healthy.
I have worked in forensic and community settings since 2002 delivering therapeutic interventions to enable clients to develop awareness of their harmful patterns to themselves and the relationships they are part of. I believe that all negative behaviours can be addressed through a caring and empathic therapeutic relationship by understanding the thoughts and emotions which drive them. Ironically I entered my training to be a therapist hoping it to provide an alternative career path. The experience provided so much more and I feel confident I can use my skills and experience to assist any change our work will undertake.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
