My Approach

Person-Centred Therapy is based on a premise that people are unique individuals and more than just the labels our families, friends, colleagues, and society have placed on us. I am interested in how you move around in the world, rather than me telling you how you should be moving around in it. I will support you in processing your individual experiences and exploring what they mean to you, so you can have a better relationship with yourself and the people around you.

Inspired by the work of Carl Rogers and the principles of Person-Centred therapy, my approach emphasises the importance of genuine connection, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. This therapy recognises the influence of societal structures and advocates for questioning traditional power dynamics, fostering equality within our therapeutic relationship. Together, we’ll explore how societal pressures and expectations impact your experiences and empower you to reclaim your voice. Ultimately, healing is both a personal journey and a communal one, where the importance of community and social justice is central. Therapy doesn't have to be all doom and gloom. Laughter is as welcome as are tears. Your whole self is welcome in our virtual room - whatever form that comes in.

About Me

Currently, I work in private practice in person from rooms in Hackney, East London as well as online. Previously, I have worked with services providing therapy through the NHS/IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) and low-cost counselling settings with individuals face to face, online and on the telephone. Most recently, I volunteered at psychiatric supported accommodation, counselling those diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

I was born in Bedford to Bengali parents, grew up on a diet of Star Trek and punk rock in Birmingham, where I graduated with a BA in English and French. I started life in the Big Smoke as an environmental journalist, and when the cynicism set in, I found myself in the world of private equity. I translated my enjoyment of building trustworthy relationships into a passion for psychotherapy.
