My Approach

The systemic approach I practice is generally brief, around 12-20 sessions of 60 min. However, some difficulties are more complex and may need longer, this is something we continually discuss. Our work together will be of empathy, curiosity, compassion, and overtime trust. I will listen to you but also ask a lot of questions, make some statements and there will be laughter and some tears.

My training and experience also means I have additional specialist training, knowledge and skills in working with couples. If you are a couple and find yourself stuck in strategies that deprive you of the love you both seek, perhaps the relationship has frequent arguments and conflicts and is generally distressing with mutual unhappiness and blame. Perhaps you are in a commit relationship but have started to feel lonely and isolated, not knowing how to change it.

Couples therapy can help partners feel more connected, feel more positive emotions, and crucially have disagreements and arguments without feeling like it threatens the entire relationship. The focus is on the relationship between the partners.

I offer online sessions via Zoom or Microsoft Teams at this time.

About Me

I’m Mikael. I am a therapist working with individuals, couples, and families. In my private practice I work exclusively with couples.

I work in a respectful and appreciative way that is also thought-provoking for us together to build on your existing strengths and create new ones to help you experience more positive emotions and to find new ways to address your difficulties. With me, you can show up exactly as you are, be that angry, heartbroken, confused, anxious, depressed, or excited and hopeful. I work both short-term and long-term depending on what fits you, your issues, and your situation.

Together our work will help you address your difficulties and struggles in different ways and move your life in the direction that is meaningful for you.
