My Approach

In our sessions, I'll work collaboratively with you to identify your goals and address any challenges you may be facing. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or simply seeking personal growth, I'm here to help.

Through active listening, empathy, and understanding, I aim to empower you to navigate life's complexities with greater clarity and resilience. Together, we'll develop personalised strategies and tools to help you cope more effectively with stress, manage difficult emotions, and improve your overall quality of life.

The benefits of therapy extend far beyond symptom relief, and by engaging in the therapeutic process, you'll gain a deeper understanding of yourself, enhance your self-esteem, and cultivate healthier relationships. Therapy can also provide you with valuable insights and skills to navigate life's transitions and challenges more effectively.

I am trained as an Existential Psychotherapist, and this approach to therapy explores the fundamental questions of human existence, such as meaning, freedom, responsibility, and mortality. Through introspection and dialogue, I help my clients to confront existential anxieties and dilemmas, and to gain insights into their values and purpose. This therapy emphasises personal agency, authenticity, and embracing life's uncertainties with courage and meaning-making.

I embrace diversity and provide inclusive therapy where individuals of all backgrounds feel valued, understood, and supported in their journey.

I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling and meaningful life, and I'm committed to supporting you every step of the way. Let's work together to help you achieve your goals and unlock your full potential.

About Me

Hello, I'm Marios, and I'm here to support you on your journey towards mental and emotional well-being. As a trained psychotherapist, I provide a safe and compassionate space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

As a qualified UKCP registered psychotherapist I work with adults online and by telephone, offering both short-term and long-term therapeutic support. Prior to the pandemic I worked also in person with people, but have since moved to working remotely.

Over the past two decades I have worked in a variety of settings ranging from charity organisations to private settings such as private practice, employee assistance programmes and insurance providers. I have supported a diverse group of people and worked extensively with individuals and groups dealing with issues such as alcohol and drug addiction, disability and health, and sexual abuse and trauma. From the beginning of my career, I have also worked with minority groups such as the LGBTQIA+ community.

No matter who I’m working with I am committed to always offering a space where people can feel safe and comfortable to talk, and where working collaboratively people regain a sense of agency in their life by overcoming emotional challenges that may hold them back. I offer a safe space to explore emotions, vulnerabilities, and the development of increased self-awareness and empathy, which helps cultivate resilience and insight.

I also work with trainee counsellors and psychotherapists for whom therapy is a vital part of their personal and professional development, and which provides an opportunity to address any unresolved issues and biases that may impact their therapeutic work, ensuring ethical and effective practice which is essential to effectively support clients.

If you are considering therapy at present due to something that is affecting you, and feel it’s something that could help and benefit you, please get in touch.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Living with a disability can profoundly impact daily life, affecting mobility, employment opportunities, social interactions, and mental health. It may require adaptive strategies, support networks, and resilience to navigate challenges effectively. For many years I have worked with individuals living with a disability by providing therapeutic support, coping strategies, and empowerment, fostering resilience and enhancing overall well-being and quality of life.
Sexual abuse/violation often leads to profound emotional and psychological scars, including trauma, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, intimacy issues, and difficulties in forming healthy relationships, which can profoundly affect one's well-being and daily functioning. I have worked extensively with men who’ve experienced sexual abuse/violation, helping them release and navigate the impact of long-term complex trauma, allowing them to be able to live a more peaceful life.
Members of the LGBTQIA+ community can experience mental health issues due to a range of challenges, including discrimination, societal stigma, identity acceptance, and minority stress. I have worked with members of this community from the beginning of my career, and provide a safe and affirming space where people can address issues such as coming out, discrimination, identity exploration, and more in a supportive environment helping them build resilience and self-empowerment.
I work extensively with various EAP and insurance providers offering vital support to employees navigating various professional and life challenges. Utilising a short-term solution-focused approach, I empower individuals to manage anxiety, stress and depression, helping them to overcome the barriers which can impact their work and personal life, and regain a sense of balance in their life.
