My Approach

Psychotherapy is my passion and I feel privileged to meet every new client and journey with them. It is about changing. It is designed to help you to be able to do, think and feel things differently. Psychoeducation also has a role to play, to empower you to co-create ways of reducing distress by using imagination and creativity. We may collaborate on active practice across different contexts so that you can be self-empowered outside the therapy room.

As an integrative psychotherapist I reach out to help people in a safe, calm and confidential environment. I will be by your side journeying with you, sharing your view and taking a leap of faith into the unknown with you. Here you can feel free, to be yourself. To be just as you are. To be understood without judgement. To see things in their true light. To see another perspective and be open to possibility.

What is integrative counselling and psychotherapy?

Integrative counselling and psychotherapy weaves together approaches and tools from a range of therapeutic models, enabling therapy to be tailored to you and to the concerns you wish to explore. ‘Walk and talk’ therapy offers integrative counselling and psychotherapy in a nature-based environment.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Addiction is a relentless force, it knows no boundaries; it indiscriminately ensnares individuals regardless of their background or identity. Few set out on a path with the intention of becoming addicted, yet it can descend swiftly or slowly over the years, stealthily tightening its grip. The roots of addiction are diverse, ranging from learned behaviours to deeply ingrained predispositions—nature intertwined with nurture. It may have initially served as a shield against isolation or misery, only to become the source of profound suffering. Perhaps the journey into addiction has become so complicated that its origins have faded into obscurity. Maybe you have forgotten how it all began and if it had a purpose, consciously or subconsciously. Therapy offers a beacon of hope amidst this darkness, providing a space for exploration and understanding. It delves into the depths of your history, unravelling the threads of underlying events and traumas that have woven the fabric of addiction. Through this process, iyou can confront and dismantle habitual patterns, while addressing the myriad of accompanying struggles such as anxiety, depression, and unhappiness. No matter the impetus behind seeking help, therapy serves as a crucial starting point on the path towards recovery and healing. Specialist training: • Addictions Training, Beeleaf Institute • Addictions Training, Eolachie • Healing and Co-dependency, Beeleaf Institute
The experience of anxiety and depression is unique to you. The symptoms and causes can be complex and layered and may result in feelings of being lost or overwhelmed or impact your self-esteem and confidence. However, there are ways we can work creatively to tackle these complexities, either working inside or in the outdoors. I also draw from my own experience of anxiety and panic disorder. My training includes: • Working Effectively with Anxiety and Depression, Beeleaf Institute • Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre • Clinical Hypnosis, Beeleaf Institute • Ten Directions Diploma, Tariki Trust (Ecotherapy and Archaeotherapy) • Complex Trauma Certificates, Complex Trauma Institute • Polyvagal Theory, Complex Trauma Institute • EMDR Certificate, EMDR works
In Buddhist psychology, the construction of identity serves as a shield against suffering. We erect a personal bubble to insulate ourselves from external influences. Identity for most individuals is part of our everyday existence, yet it can become problematic when entrenched habits and patterns become overwhelming or damaging. The Other-Centred approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of individuals and the value of empathetic relationships. While traditional Western psychotherapy often reflects on individual emotions, the Other-Centred approach focuses on understanding the broader relational context. It explores how actions and emotions impact a broader range of relationships, offering a roadmap that extends beyond the confines of individual feelings. I have a post qualification certificate in Other Centred (Buddhist) Psychotherapy and and Ecotherapy Diploma from the Tariki Trust.
To help you, I can draw on a number of different approaches and techniques, based in solid theoretical frameworks and experience working with clients. My training includes: • Complex Trauma Certificates, Complex Trauma Institute • Polyvagal Theory, Complex Trauma Institute • EMDR Certificate, EMDR works • Lifespan Integration, Lifespan Integration UK • Working Creatively with Trauma, Beeleaf Institute
