My Approach

I am a Jungian psychotherapist/an analytical psychologist. I see people as intricate jigsaw puzzles; all the pieces interconnect and influence one another. We use our own relationship to help us explore everything. I am interested in the whole of you, your mind, your soul, your body, your emotions - what you feel and what you think. We will use metaphor and symbolism in our work, look at dreams and stay aware that we live in the every day world.

Some times I work with people for 6 sessions once a week, and sometimes three times a week for a number of years. We will work that out together - find what is right for you.

About Me

I am an analytical psychologist, Jungian Analyst and Gestalt Psychotherapist. I am interested in longer term depth work to help you explore issues. I also have extensive experience of working short term with people. This means that I know what it is like to feel that life is generally OK, but something has derailed you at present - a bereavement, career issues, stress, depression, relationship issues, and we can work together for a short period of time to help you get back on track.

Sometimes though, some of us can feel that life is not as we would like it to be, that we have longer term issues with relationships or certain aspects of life, and we would like the opportunity to look more deeply into ourselves. I can work with you and support you in that, and together we can find a more peaceful, more self accepting, truer way of being in the world.

I work with

  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

When life is difficult we often feel ourselves wanting to scream with frustration, let alone to lash out. We can look at how these feelings build up and how to manage them more effectively to achieve what you want.
We all have come from families and have created a family of our own - or have chosen in some way not to have a family. We want them to be like our family of origin - or completely different! We compare ourselves with others and wonder why we are not happier. Looking at this with someone, can help us understand what is happening and our role. Together we can find our what you want and I can support you in moving towards that.
Depression, anxiety and stress have become part of everyday life for most of us. I can help you look at how these originate and are exacerbated in your life and how you can move through them.
Our relationships with others and with ourselves, influence our lives. Sometimes we feel we repeat patterns from the past and want to alter that; we seek deeper more fulfilling relationships. Whether with an intimate other, or with a work colleague or a shop assistant, we are involved in relationships every day. I use our relationship to help us understand this more clearly and to find a way to help you move forward to find a place where you feel comfortable.
I have over 25 years experience working as a Gestalt Psychotherapist and now as a Jungian Analyst. I have taught on Diploma in Counselling courses. I qualified as a supervisor in 2000 and am now revisiting the issue of supervision on an advanced psychoanalytic supervision course. It is important to me to help you become the sort of therapist/analyst that you want to be, to find your own way of working. I hope to foster space to help you explore yourself as a therapist and to grow in your work.
