My Approach

I am an Artist and Systemic Psychotherapist who has an interest in relational phenomenology and dialogical art.
I been exploring the concept of ‘MA’, (a Japanese concept.) The concept of ‘Ma’ relates to the space within which we exist, the space we originate and evolve from – it begins void of meaning and meaning is created by in the space. As an energy Ma is relational to life, time and the spaces we need for growth, and how we spend our time shaping these spaces and our relationships to self, others and our surroundings.
My approach is characterized by incisiveness, creativity, and synergizing diverse points of view into a cohesive understanding that illuminates new insights, enabling decision-making and action. The quality of dialogue determines the quality of idea generation, problem–solving and how people make decisions. How people feel about one another impacts the outcome of these decisions.

Dialogical Art and systemic psychotherapy can create bonding experiences that facilitates collaboration and accelerates the ability to get to the heart of a problem, nurture relationships between dissimilar groups, fostering an appreciation for diverse and pluralistic points of view, playing a vital role in helping ‘us’ find our authentic voices, and remembering who we are as human beings. Enabling a co-authored and co-produced experience for meaning-making of our own narratives through a co-production which functions as a generative tool to explore semi-structured everyday conversational-exchange-as-art and may lead to an emergence of subconsciously held insights, assumptions of our intra and inter relational experiences. I believe throughout the process of artistic creation comes communication and vice versa.
Creating a co-existence of our multiple, separate, and equally valid voices in a collaborative experiential activity, promotes and enables new, shared understandings of our intra and inter relationships.

About Me

I have many years of experience in mental health and social care which I believe has forged my foundation in systemic psychotherapy. I offer a humanistic approach which embraces "Systemic therapy as neither an attempts a 'treatment of causes' nor create symptoms, rather it gives living systems nudges that help them to develop new patterns together, taking on a new organizational structure that allows growth.” Arist, von Schlippe et al. 1998, (pp245-261)

In systemic terms, I believe as a practitioner I create a relational space for continual change through the exchange of information. (Hoffman, 1995) states that in this space new realities are discovered through social discourse.
I have been strongly influenced by my own internal “relationally” thinking, as an individual and therapist, Daniel Stern’s (1985) suggests that the self and relationships are two sides of the same issue, the self and relationships are co- dependent and connected to past and present relational experiences, these experiences influences the process of change.
