Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

NHS experience and forensic expertise enable me to offer gold-standard outpatient, individualised, psychological care and complex trauma packages. My forensic experience is based on over a decade of clinical research in maximum secure prisons and includes the rehabilitation of female sex offenders. I treat and assess in confidence dissociative symptoms trauma survivors experience. Based in the heart of Scotland my practice is dedicated to the safe recovery of vulnerable individuals, families, and couples impacted by trauma.
My work is dedicated to trauma survivors' care, treatment, and recovery. Therapy creates self-development and upcycled movement, just like the natural world does. Surviving early abuse, neglect, or abandonment -otherwise known as developmental trauma- can leave survivors stuck holding the hand of hurt. Abuse is sustained by mystery and darkness fades in natural light. I believe psychotherapy offers a space to shine, regenerate, and heal. My clinical assessment is deep and detailed. It has two parts. First, an initial introductory consultation. Second, psychotherapeutic consultation and diagnostic interview using special trauma tools. Psychotherapy can help regenerate and recover naturally sustainable resourcefulness. Understanding symptoms is in itself healing. My assessment conclusions and recommendations are guided by international guidelines and use a phased treatment plan of care.
