My Approach

Life can feel challenging at times. I offer a safe, confidential space to discuss any issues that could be getting in the way of you leading a full and creative life. Rather than offering advice, we can think together to understand any deep-seated issues which could be holding you back.
I offer a free, no-obligation phone call to understand your needs and what you may be looking for in therapy. We would then have an initial consultation to understand your life and history. If mutually agreeable, we would then make a regular appointment to meet weekly, either in-person at my rooms in London Bridge or East Sussex, or online via Zoom.
I tend to offer open-ended therapy, guided by you to work through issues which could be deep-seated and need time to be aired and understood. However, I can also offer time-limited work if this would suit you better. Sessions last 50 minutes at the same time each week. Prices range from £70-£85 on a self-select fee, depending on income. I also offer some low-cost sessions for those on a tight budget.

About Me

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist and qualified with the British Psychotherapy Foundation (bpf) in 2024. I am particularly interested in the challenges of living with neurodivergence, specifically autism and ADHD, in a society geared towards structures and ways of being suited to the neuromajority, and the mental health issues that can arise as a result, such as depression, anxiety, complex trauma, OCD, addiction etc. I take a neuroaffirmative approach, helping you navigate issues that may be holding you back from leading a full and creative life. I use my previous experience as an artist and educator to inform my practice as a psychotherapist, often working with symbol and metaphor to help you understand deep-seated issues that could be holding you back.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Addiction problems, such as alcohol and drug-addiction, eating issues, work addiction etc can stem from unhealthy patterns of trying to cope in difficult circumstances. Together we can think about the causes of your addiction in order to help you understand them better and learn to overcome them in a healthier way.
ADHD is becoming more accepted in society, particularly for those who have been identified/diagnosed later in life. I can help you think through the impact of how growing up with ADHD, perhaps without the necessary support, perhaps leading many unmet needs, may have impacted your sense of self and self-esteem. Together we can find ways of managing life more creatively and living life to the full.
I have a particular interest in how being autistic, particularly those who have been identified/diagnosed later in life, can impact your mental health. The saying goes that 'When you've met one autistic person, you've met one autistic person,' so autistic people are as different from one another as those from the neuromajority. I see autism as a difference, not a deficit, and will help you celebrate and understand your unique way of thinking and experiencing the world in order to play to your strengths. There may also be other issues such as relationships, communication differences, finding meaningful work etc that may be causing problems for you that we can think about together.
I am particularly interested in how issues surrounding identity may be holding you back from leading a full and creative life. Together we can explore what may be preventing you from truly understanding who you are in an authentic way, thinking back to patterns in childhood that could have led to creating a 'false self' which may no longer be helpful and could be causing you harm.
Trauma can be the result of one traumatic event, or of many. Often it is the sense of helplessness which can lead to trauma and a sense of fragmentation, so together we can think about painful and difficult experiences you may have had and work through them to heal and regain a sense of perspective and acceptance.
