Firstly, we establish a safe space for us to explore together what you would like to bring to therapy. We can look at how you are experiencing people and events in your life as well as at what you feel is working well for you and what is not. We can explore together why you might feel this way. This can involve looking back over events from your past. You are free to express your thoughts and feelings within the safety of our relationship. As our therapy continues, you may start to have more insight in to why it is that you think, feel and behave the way you do. This awareness can then act as the basis for positive change.
People often ask - how long will I need? There is no set answer to this question. Some people might require around 8-10 sessions, others will require many more. It really all depends on the complexity of the issues you would like to look at in therapy.
My name is Tania Jacklin and I practice counselling in Bury St Edmunds. I know that it can be daunting to take the time to really look at what is troubling you. As an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, I aim to be alongside you in this process. Together, we can look to build a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel safe and able to bring your emotions and thoughts.
Before working as a counsellor I qualified as a Music Therapist and worked in a variety of settings, including in neurological rehabilitation, care homes and schools for those with additional needs. I have worked as a Counsellor with a wide range of clients. I have experience in working with the effects of trauma, issues around identity, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship breakdown, bereavement and loss . I have had a keen interest in working with all aspects of neurodivergence throughout my working life. I will often use creative methods of working if they feel comfortable and appropriate to the client, such as sand tray work and music. These can be useful in getting to the heart of an issue quickly and allowing us to experience that process in the room together can be powerful in terms of understanding and growth.

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
