My Approach

I came to the profession by sitting in the client’s chair myself, and embarking on my own journey of healing and self-awareness. I know how absolutely daunting it can feel to make the first step, but I believe in the power of a supportive and nurturing environment so much, that I would like to offer the same to you.

I am Integratively trained which means I incorporate Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive theories into my work with you. As well as a private practice, I have experience of working with an eating disorder charity, and a mental health charity, and students at university.

I believe our experiences of childhood continue to shape our experiences in adulthood, especially when there is abuse or neglect. This can affect our self esteem and relationships in the present. Processing and making sense of these experiences can help to make sense of the 'here and now'.

I offer in-person appointments (I do not offer online at this time). The therapy space is located in central Norwich close to carparks and major bus routes. I offer a no obligation £25 first session.  I also have ad hoc spaces available for shift workers every day.

My regular availability (as of Aug 2024):

Mon: 2.00 (weekly or fortnightly from 12 Aug)
Tues: 12.50 (weekly or fortnightly from 6 Aug)
Wed: 2.20 (weekly or fortnightly starting from 14 Aug)
Thur: 4.00 weekly, or 5.10 fortnightly
Fri: No regular availability, only cancellations

Qualifications:
Degree: BSc Integrative Counselling (Hons) (Middlesex University)
Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (Matrix College of Counselling & Psychotherapy)
Post Grad Certificate in Person-Centred Counselling Skills (University of East Anglia)

I am a member of UKCP and BACP governing bodies, fully insured and DBS checked

About Me

Hello, I'm Susie and I work with relationships and attachment – I believe our experiences of childhood affect our adult relationships and how we view ourselves in the here and now.

Do you sometimes find yourself with feelings of not 'good enough’, or feeling like something is missing?  Maybe certain situations can feel overwhelming, and life is becoming difficult to navigate. Perhaps you have have experienced a relationship loss, or you are at a crossroads in your life, wondering 'how did I end up here?' and 'who am I?'?

Well done for taking the first step - perhaps you would like to tell your story and be heard and understood. Maybe you would like to work towards change, greater self esteem, and meaningful connection.
Through working together,  I will hear you and listen without judgement, offer perspective, and help you to get to know and understand yourself and patterns of behaviour. I believe that understanding ourselves can lead to choice, and when we have choices, this can lead to change, and even lead to acceptance of what cannot be changed.

Together we can process thoughts and feelings, become more engaged with the present, and make plans and goals for the future.
