I am a relational therapist and my work with clients is focused on what they bring, their attachment pattern and their developmental experience. My work is trauma informed and together we consider both the trauma they may have personally experienced and also any issues of generational trauma related to dislocation, separation and history of colonisation and war. Together with the client we can be curious about their default patterns of psychological difficulty, how these have become part of the way they respond to events and relationships and how these can be compassionately recognised and validated.
I have worked in the helping professions since 1990 and before that was a volunteer counsellor working with mothers who were breastfeeding their babies. I was a Family Support Coordinator in GP practices in Hackney before training and qualifying as an Integrative Psychotherapist in 2009. I have been in private practice since I qualified and in 2014 trained as a supervisor. I worked as a lay member on Mental Health Tribunals from 2012 - 2019 so have a good understanding of severe mental illness and statutory services and the law relating to mental health including sectioning. I work at OneTwoFive Therapy Rooms in N London and also see clients out of doors when that is requested. I am a member of The Climate Psychology Alliance and am a climate aware practitioner, with an understanding of climate anxiety and a systemic approach to clients experience of the world in which we are now living.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
