My Approach

I start with an initial session or sessions to discuss what’s on your mind and how therapy could work for you. In these first sessions we can consider what might be bringing you to therapy and whether we feel we can work together.

From my experience and also looking at recent research I'd say that the quality of the relationship between therapist and client has an important part to play in therapy being effective.

If we feel we can work together we can arrange to meet for weekly sessions at a time that suits you.

People seek counselling or psychotherapy for a range of difficulties and problems. I've worked with people to help them in areas like:

Feeling anxious or stressed
Feeling sad, depressed or low in mood
Experiencing relationship difficulties with our partners or family
Feeling stuck or with a lack of direction or sense of purpose in life
Lacking in confidence and self-esteem
Having difficulties in work or education
Experiencing difficulties sexually
Being troubled by things in our past
Suffering loss or bereavement

About Me

I'm an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist, working in private practice and for the NHS at the RUH with people 18 years and over offering a safe and supportive place in which to talk about your difficulties and concerns.

Sessions take place in a private and confidential setting in the centre of Bath where you can begin to explore what might be troubling you, or causing you distress and suffering, or preventing you from experiencing life to the full. We can take time to focus on what’s important for you, to try to make some sense and understand what may be happening to you and think about the changes you might want to make.

I have a background in the creative arts and charity sector, including many years’ experience working in the areas of housing, homelessness, learning disabilities and with young people.
Throughout my training and beforehand, I've had many years experience of personal psychotherapy and have an understanding of what it can feel like to be in therapy.

I trained at WPF in London, one of the UK's leading training and clinical institutions for counselling and psychotherapy, a highly regarded organisation which offers one of the most rigorous trainings available. I hold the following qualifications;

Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice (University of Roehampton)
Qualification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (WPF Therapy)
Certificate in Counselling Skills (WPF Therapy).
