The terminology of therapy is often confusing, but the way I work means that: although whatever has brought you to therapy is manifesting itself in your day to day life, behaviours, thoughts and feelings, I believe that it's roots could be in your past, possibly as far back as early childhood.
Starting in therapy can be intimidating, but it doesn't have to be. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore with you. I want to collaborate with you, for us to work together to really try and understand your thoughts, feelings and experiences, and help you move forward.
Perhaps you are feeling anxious, or are experiencing low mood. Maybe you have experienced a trauma, or are dealing with a lot of stress. Your relationships could be better, or you might want to make sense of your life so far. You might have suffered a loss, or simply feel that something isn't quite right, and that you need some help and support. These are just some of the presenting problems I can work with, and there are many more.
Hello. My name is Stephen, and I am a professional psychodynamic psychotherapist, working with adults on a once a week basis, either in person in central London or Esher in Surrey, online, or on the phone. I can work on a short term basis, usually 6-12 sessions, very issue focused; or I can work in whats called 'open ended therapy', without a finish in mind, which allows for really deep, exploratory work.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
