Hi, I'm Stella,
I work with individuals, couples, and adult family relationships in person in Brixton and Peckham, and online.
My doctoral research was in the embodied experience of postmenopause and I am especially interested in working with our major life transitions - including illness, in/fertility, menopause, ageing, and end of life.
Alongside my private practice, I have worked in hospice bereavement support, an NHS cancer support service working with both patients and carers, and low-cost community services.
I understand therapy to be a conversation between us about things that matter to you. While I always endeavour to offer a warm and supportive space, I am also prepared to challenge and encourage you to tackle the trickier things as well as the simpler ones. I believe that therapy is a gift we can give ourselves, towards a more open and vital life.
My training as an existential psychotherapist means I am interested in supporting you to consider what matters most to you in life, and the meaning you are making of how it is for you.
I have many years experience in the arts as a writer, performer, director and facilitator and, in therapy, a particular interest in supporting people to live their lives creatively – this might mean considering our choices more closely, looking at where we have become stuck in beliefs or the stories we tell ourselves, or using an uncertain time in life as a chance to take stock and make new choices that better suit who we are now and who we are becoming.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
