About Me

I am an accredited UKCP integrative psychotherapist and a registered MBACP psychotherapeutic counsellor. I have been working with a range of difficulties  with both adult and child clients. I am offering sessions for adults, young people and couples.

Regarding my journey in finding psychotherapy and counselling, this has been an extensive one in which I have wanted to support others from a young age due to personal experiences. I have always had a passion for being there for others and working through difficulties with another person and this stemmed into pursuing a career in supporting others. I take pride in my work and strive to be the best version of the therapist I can be to support the wellbeing of others.

I appreciate taking the step to access psychotherapy and counselling is a big one and can bring up a lot of feelings in itself. I want you to know that I see you and I am here to support in the best way I can to contribute to your wellbeing and be a part of your mental health journey. I invite you to connect with me so we can work through these feelings together. I would like to provide you with the support of making sense of these emotions within a therapeutic safe space.

Therapy can feel like a scary place especially when it is a new experience, but I assure you that we would work through your difficulties at a pace chosen by you. Being person centred means that my focus is you and your wellbeing and we would work through our sessions with a structure chosen by you, that you feel safe in. Remember, YOU are the expert of your lived experience and we can work through it together with you leading me on your journey. The way in which our sessions would work is through regular 6 weekly reviews to continuously check in with your progress. The sessions are 50 minutes long and will tend to be weekly sessions at the same time each week, unless we have an agreed contract to work differently. I am currently offering remote only sessions as I am currently unable to provide face to face work in this current moment. I am expecting this to change in the near future. Currently I am offering client work for adults, young people and couples.

I am a British South Asian Muslim woman and this is something that allows me to connect with my niche group who may have difficulties with identity and understanding their cultural stance within a modern western community. I support individuals with making sense of the stigma and difficulty that comes with fitting into the current society. This is something I support individuals with, however I have also worked with anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse extensively. Being a British South Asian can come with difficulties in itself, with difficulties in connecting with our older generations and feeling heard, especially when it comes to mental health. Or it can be navigating your way through life whilst balancing the two cultures and finding a place that feels right for you between the two. This is something I see and factor in regardless of what may bring you to therapy.

I want to leave you with a quote that I often think of for your reflection:

“Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear” (2:286)

I am here and we can work through easing these burdens and difficulties that may feel extremely heavy for you in this moment. I look forward to hearing from you when you are ready.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have worked in a child trauma clinic to specifically work with the effects of trauma and abuse. I have also completed work on abuse through various organisations which involved working with adults. I completed some work in a Muslim setting for women who have experienced domestic abuse which allowed me to gain a lot of experience within this field.
Anxiety is a difficulty I have worked with since the beginning of my work within the counselling and psychotherapy field. I am able to support with looking into the deeper routes of this difficulty, as well as thinking through ways this can be overcome and managed in order to be able to function within life.

Depression and anxiety are both difficulties that I have worked with since the beginning of my time within the counselling and psychotherapy world. Working into the deeper meanings as to where this low mood/depression comes from, working on healing the inner child and creating a new narrative in order to create a new journey that involves the client to flourish is key for me when working with this issue.
I have worked within a Barnardos organisation as a psychotherapeutic counsellor to support children who have been in homes involving abuse or have witnessed abuse or any kind of trauma. Although trauma is something I have worked with for both adults and children, I would say I have done some deep extensive work with children ranging from 5 years to 18 years.
