Psychotherapy can be a life-changing experience. People start therapy for many different reasons. You may feel dissatisfied or distressed, want to explore the past, process difficult life events, achieve new goals or just learn more about yourself.
I work in an integrative way: this means I weave a variety of therapeutic approaches to suit different clients. My approach is informed by a range of therapeutic models, as I combine my knowledge of psychoanalytical theory and humanistic psychology to find the most suitable method to help you. Each relationship will be unique depending upon your needs.
I believe that in therapy, art can offer the opportunity to see, feel and sit with experiences and feelings that can be difficult sometimes to put into words. The more we explore and learn about our emotions, the more accepting we can become of ourselves and others.
You do not need to be an artist or have had any art experience to benefit from this.
The creation of images could represent a way to understand yourself and your relationship with others in more depth, however there are times when verbal psychotherapy may be better suited depending on your individual needs.
My areas of personal interest and expertise are working with trauma, anxiety, relationships, family and parenting related issues.
