My Approach

As a Psychotherapist I will help you to understand any long - standing internal conflicts from the past, enabling you to gain more insight and become more self aware. Issues you maybe struggling with now will have their roots in early childhood. By exploring these together you will begin to understand the impact on your adult life. Once you gain a better insight and awareness you will be able to make more sense of recurrent problems which have become difficult for you over the years, allowing you to process the changes and move forward.

Finding a therapist can be a daunting process. It is important that you feel comfortable with a therapist who you plan to work with on a regular basis. Counselling is a therapeutic relationship between you and your therapist where trust and confidentiality are vital. I will offer you a safe and confidential space for you to explore your feelings which have prevented you from moving forward. You will be able to talk freely, perhaps for the very first time within a non - judgemental environmental, at a pace that suits you. Whether that be open ended or short term therapy. I am here to ensure you feel comfortable and safe where confidentiality is paramount.

As a MBACP (Accred) and UKCP member, I work in accordance with their Ethical Codes of Framework. I have a commitment to my clients to provide a professional environment and to maintain professional standards at all times.

About Me

Hello, I'm Shelley, welcome to my page.

You have taken the first step which is the hardest. Whatever has brought you here today I am here to listen. This may be the very first time you have thought about counselling. Perhaps all you need is for someone to listen to you for the very first time. We will work together at your own pace within a trusting environment, gradually exploring what you are finding difficult to cope with right now.

As a psychotherapist I am aware of how difficult it can be to take that first step to have counselling. It takes great courage to ask for help and be able to show your vulnerability. I will offer you a safe and secure place to explore your internal conflicts and difficulties.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

If you feel you are struggling with an addiction which is affecting your life both at work and personally you may need to speak with someone. You do not need to cope alone, please do get in touch.
Anxiety can be debilitating as it can cause you to feel uneasy. Are you experiencing feelings of tension and fear? symptoms which might be affecting you both psychologically and physically, having an impact on you as an individual. If so please get in touch...
You might be finding it difficult to cope and unable to put your feelings into words. Are you feeling constantly sad or experiencing a lack of interest in normal everyday things. If so do get in touch with me.
Whatever you may be struggling with it may help to know that there is someone who will listen to you. Perhaps it has been difficult to be heard in the past and you may feel that no one has the time to listen to you. Please do get in touch.
Are you struggling with relationships, personal, family or at work. Is it difficult interacting with people, perhaps communicating has become too intolerable. Are you being misunderstood?
