My Approach

My approach is to work with each person as an individual. Many of us may have had similar experiences, but each of us will experience them differently as each of us is unique. I adopt a non-directive and non-judgemental stance, as we work together to try and understand how repeating patterns may occur as ways to survive.

Therapy can be hard work and requires commitment to attending at the same time every week. It can also be intensely rewarding as we learn to understand and accept ourselves more; learn that we can own and bear difficult emotions and ultimately try to live a life that feels more rewarding.

About Me

Hello. I am Shauna. I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist which means that my approach is based on the belief that the past can help us understand the present. We all have learned many ways of trying to survive in the world, and these coping strategies can be very present at times, which may be why you wish to seek help now. They can also be kept well hidden from others or even ourselves. By working with me, we can uncover them and work together to understand why and how they manifest and their impact on our emotional and relational life.

I have experience supporting individuals with a range of challenges, including neurodiversity, depression, anxiety, identity, self-confidence and self-esteem, relationship difficulties, loss, parenting and pregnancy-related concerns.

I began my career as an Occupational Psychologist, working globally with individuals, teams and organisations. I then retrained as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist to offer more in-depth support to help individuals understand and work with the root causes of emotional and relational issues.

I am accredited by the UKCP and the BPC and adhere to their code of ethics. Additionally, I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) as an Occupational Psychologist and am registered with the HCPC.

I also accept patients covered by health insurers: Aviva, Vitality and WPA.
