I provide a warm, non-judgmental, empathic space for my clients. I believe in recognising the individuality of each person I work with and by forming a strong therapeutic relationship which is unique to them, I can provide a safe, boundaried space which may evoke growth and change.
I consider the most important aspects of the therapeutic relationship are a willingness of both the client and therapist to learn, the ability to play and the courage to discover together.
Some clients struggle to find the words to explain what is going on for them, or sometimes words are simply not enough. This is when the arts can bring something really special into the therapy space. They invite curiosity; an opportunity to reflect and process feelings, allowing the unconscious to be conscious. No experience with art or art materials is necessary to have art therapy, all that is a required is a willingness to explore and be curious.
I have a Masters in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Certificate in the Therapeutic Arts, trained in counselling skills using creative arts.
I have a private practice in Sevenoaks where I see adults and children on a one to one basis, both face to face and online and I work in a secondary school one day a week as an art therapist. I am also an approved practitioner for Adoption Partnership Southeast. I have five years' experience working for the NHS seeing patients who have experienced complex trauma, and five years' experience working for West Kent Mind.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). I am fully insured and registered with the ICO.
