I provide a warm, non-judgmental, empathic space for my clients. I believe in recognising the individuality of each person I work with and by forming a strong therapeutic relationship which is unique to them, I can provide a safe, boundaried space which may evoke growth and change.
I consider the most important aspects of the therapeutic relationship are a willingness of both the client and therapist to learn, the ability to play and the courage to discover together.
Some clients struggle to find the words to explain what is going on for them, or sometimes words are simply not enough. This is when the arts can bring something really special into the therapy space. They invite curiosity; an opportunity to reflect and process feelings, allowing the unconscious to be conscious. No experience with art or art materials is necessary to have art therapy, all that is a required is a willingness to explore and be curious.
I have a Masters in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Certificate in the Therapeutic Arts, trained in counselling skills using creative arts.
I currently work as an arts psychotherapist for the NHS, where I see patients who have experienced complex trauma, as an associate counsellor for West Kent Mind and in a secondary school setting.
I also have my own private practice, offering face to face sessions in Sevenoaks, Kent or via Zoom. I work from my own art therapy studio, which provides my clients with a safe, creative space to explore, play and be curious about their lives and whatever has brought them to therapy.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). I am fully insured and registered with the ICO.
