I am an integrative therapist, trainer and supervisor, who integrates psychodynamic, person-centred, CBT, energy therapy, and behavioural and existential approaches. I have over thirty years' experience in the field, together with a background in psychiatric nursing and organisational management, which gives me a broad understanding of the field of mental health and the possibilities for human change.
I am a psychotherapist with a long career in the NHS and the local authority. In 1980 I trained in psychiatric nursing and spent 30 years working as a nurse and clinical manager in the NHS. I then went on to run a counselling service for Occupational Health in the local authority. In 1984 I trained as a psychotherapist, followed by a Master's in Counselling Teaching and Supervision and alongside my work, I have had a parallel private practice until the present. Nowadays I spend most of my time supervising trainee and qualified psychotherapists, although I still do some direct work with clients.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
