My Approach

During your sessions, you can speak openly and confidentially about any concerns or worries. I offer a collaborative and non-judgmental relationship, providing a space to explore the origins of your issues. Sessions last 50 minutes and are typically scheduled for the same time and day each week to foster a feeling of safety and consistency, though more frequent sessions are available if needed. People who come to see me have experienced a range of issues in life, including relationship difficulties, (both heterosexual and gay), loss, anxiety and depression, low self confidence and self esteem, difficulty communicating feelings and emotions, suicidal feelings, abuse, self harm and eating disorders.

About Me

No one is exempt from troubles as long as they navigate the chaotic streams of life. (Carl Jung)
There isn't a handbook for being human, for relating to others or ourselves, and sometimes we require support to enact changes or make decisions that serve our best interests. This need may stem from distressing thoughts or emotions, significant life transitions, or a broader desire to derive more from life. I became qualified in 2000 and have since completed numerous comprehensive post-qualification trainings. My experience spans schools, hospices, and training institutions, and I currently run a private practice in Kings Langley. My practice is built on the principles of trust, confidentiality and respect for your individuality and taking the time to build a relationship that enables the exploration of distressing thoughts and feelings. Recurring themes and patterns of thinking can be identified and bought to light, enabling you understand the way you see yourself, others and the world and to make changes in long established ways of relating. During your sessions, you are able to speak openly and confidentially about any concerns or worries. I advocate for a collaborative and non-judgmental relationship, providing a space to explore the origins of your distress.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Loss is everywhere and challenges our equilibrium, whether the death of a loved one, job, home or lifestyle. It can be challenging to bear the suffering accompanying losses and undermine our very sense of who we are
I believe eating disorders are the symptom of something that isn't yet able to be thought about and put into words. I take a sensitive and non-judgmental approach to working towards understanding the roots of an embodied distress
I believe we relate to others in the same way that we relate to ourselves and that is modelled by the way we have been related to. Working collaboratively with the therapeutic relationship can shed light on our ways of being with others
I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic supervisor and see my role as mentor to enable a supervised to develop as a practitioner
I have been involved with training institutions for many years and was have of course been a trainee myself and have some understanding of the tensions and difficulties that arise as a trainee therapist
