Sometimes we need to understand how we got here in order to know where we are going. Otherwise we may end up right back in the same place. Our world can seem to move very fast at times. Counselling and Psychotherapy is about creating a safe space in order to slow things down and examine in these moments what may have previously passed unnoticed. From this exploration, psychological change becomes possible. This will then enable you to free yourself from self-limiting patterns and live a fuller, richer life.
My approach is Humanistic & integrative. We are all unique individuals, and so I do not believe a one size fits all approach. Instead i draw upon a selection of theories that fit together relationally, in order that we can explore together which fits better with your experience of your world.
It can be daunting asking for help; discussing your most personal, painful life experiences with another. I am here to help you develop an insight in to why you feel the way you do and together we can make you feel understood, supported, safe and validated.
I do not believe that people have issues, I believe that they have issues in relating to their world. Through our work together, I will assist you in exploring the patterns that you follow in your life. This exploration will seek to see where the psychological distress may form and work together to find new ways of being that can relieve this.
I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to talk about your issues. I have had some of the best training available and over 12 years of experience of client work in a variety of settings and managed regional counselling services for nationally recognised mental health charities in MIND. I have also worked in an NHS setting as well as The Priory. Our relationship is a key element to your development and that is why the first session will be used to make sure that we can work together. I have a private practice in Nottingham NG5. It has a car park and on street parking nearby and well served by public transport.
