I believe that meaningful therapeutic work is built on a foundation of real-world experience, safety, and mutual respect. I have worked with individuals from all walks of life, helping them navigate complex emotional difficulties, relational patterns, and life transitions. My background in group analysis gives me a primary perspective on how we relate to others and the world around us. Now in semi-retirement, I offer private psychotherapy, group consultations, and clinical supervision for both trainees and established practitioners. Whether you are looking to understand yourself better, process difficult experiences, or deepen your own clinical practice, I invite you to get in touch for an initial consultation.
If you are looking for a highly experienced therapist or supervisor, I offer a wealth of clinical knowledge built over a 40-year career in the NHS. My professional journey began as a qualified psychiatric nurse, working across acute admissions, elderly care, and as a Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN). This frontline medical and community background informs my later training as a psychotherapist and group analyst, giving me a deeply grounded, practical, and holistic understanding of mental health. Over my career in the NHS, I have sat with people through almost every imaginable life challenge—from the intense crises of acute psychiatric wards and community care to the deep, reflective work of long-term individual and group psychotherapy. This dual background as both a former psychiatric nurse and psychotherapist/ group analyst means my approach is uniquely balanced: I bring a grounded, practical understanding of mental health alongside a deep appreciation for how our past, our families, and our wider social networks shape who we are today.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
