My Approach

I help those with trauma, dissociation or chronic conditions in order to move on with their life. Now doesn’t need to mean forever.
I am a trauma psychotherapist, counsellor and supervisor. I tutor online counselling and supervision.

About Me

My name is Olivia Djouadi and I work with adults as an online integrative psychotherapist and counsellor. Due to training in a variety of places I have gained skills that will help clients in finding paths that will be useful towards healing.

I am a UKCP psychotherapist having trained at Birkbeck, CAPP (The John Bowlby Centre), Online Training Ltd and Regents University London. I have also taken courses in trauma and dissociative disorders with experts in the field within the UK. I continue to update my knowledge yearly with both experiential and academic courses. I also learn from the experience of life.

Over the years, I have worked online as a support person to those with special needs and also those with dissociative disorders. In the past I volunteered with refugees and those who found themselves homeless in London. In recent years I worked with special needs children and assisted their parents. I am knowledgeable about short term and long term disabilities. I have also been a type 1 diabetic for almost 50 years so some of my knowledge comes from experience.

I have also taken courses in trauma, psychopathology, integrative therapy, journal therapy, online counselling and humanistic therapy. I continue to update my knowledge on a yearly bases so I can be helpful to those I assist. You can see my education and skills here.

I have worked as a psychotherapist in private practice for over a decade and as a volunteer for RAFA.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I work with trauma and have specialised training in dissociation. I can also give the SCID-D and DES to diagnose dissociative disorders. I have studied and worked in the area of trauma since 2007 and before that worked at refugee centres in London and Bromley. As someone familiar with disability I also worked as a key-worker at a special needs nursery for kids from 0 to when they started school. Presently Im not trained to work with children but in the past helped their parents with some of the stress that developed. I have also volunteered in a care unit with those that had severe dementia and sometimes needed emotional support for past trauma that came up. I have also worked with Veterans from the RAF for some years now. Trauma covers a wide range of topics and can occur before birth, during birth, during the preschool years, school years and anytime during the adult years. Some people may have one trauma they wish to work on and others have numerous incidents of harm that occurred. Sometimes the trauma can occur after seeing parents fight or abuse at home. You might of lived in a safe home but going outdoors was fraught with possibilities you had no control over. Circumstances can also cause unexpected adversities such as suddenly moving house or even to a new country. Health can also be a source of unease either from growing up with a caregiver that had an illness or having a diagnoses you weren't expecting. A new condition can either slide into family life or course a shift so their is an adjustment for everyone in the household. Reaction to family changes are normal and it can help to have someone with you that understands. I work with Stress, trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD, dissociation, derealism, depersonalisation, Dissociative Identity Disorder DID also known as multiplicity and polyfragmented DID
People assume adoption might be babies cared for by safe families but that doesn't apply to every family. Sometimes children lose a parent due to illness, fire, accidents or harm in the family. These situations can be for any age for a child and may continue in memories even after the age of 18. Some people don't realise they were adopted until a much older age. Some children may of been in various care setting before they were adopted. Each person will have their own story and I hope to assist an complications that may of come up.
Some people may of been given a mental health diagnosis or may of had others say they seem to be stressed or angry more than usual. Mental health is talked about more often in the media and something you heard may feel similar to how you feel. some may of returned from serving in the services and feel not quite settled in civilian life yet. Some may of been given a medical discharge that one wasn't expecting or given because of an incident. Normal life events such as loss or childbirth had unexpected situations.
I have been an online supervisor since 2014 and also tutored online counselling and supervision for 5 years until the pandemic. I supervise those who see either adults or children in their work. I also do consultations for those that may need addition supervision for their work in dissociation. My main work areas are trauma, dissociation including polyfragmented DID, adoption, SEN and parents of SEN children.
Whats your personal trauma? The answer can be different for everyone and sometimes we can link with other people that may of gone through something similar. Trauma can be like tissue paper where there is a surface level trauma that's known to one immediately and then more layers of trauma is then uncovered. Sometimes trauma can be frozen to the time it happened and include the feelings one held at that time such as self blame for something one didnt cause. By bringing a memory to an adult perspective one can start to see they didnt cause it or ask for it. Where there has been lots of harm then mind control or adverse group beliefs might of been included. It can take time to recover but feeling freer is a goal one might have or a hope things will change. I work with conditions such as PTSD, CPTSD, dissociative disorders, derealism, depersonalisation, dissociative amnesia, dissociative identity disorders and polyfragmented DID (having over 100 parts/identities). Sometimes DID is also known as being multiple or having a system. My work has also included diagnosing dissociative disorders and treating it at The Clinic of Dissociative Disorders. I have worked with dissociation in clinical practice over 14 years and also use to help run on online RPG portal on Second Life of a DID island that had many users at the time. It educated users about dissociation and gave parts the opportunity to explore their own identity.
