My Approach

I work in a holistic way using the knowledge I have gained along the way to match the needs of the client with the most appropriate way of working, according to age and need. I will use appropriate resources that can enable and facilitate thoughts and feelings in a safe and accepting way. This is all with the aim of helping the client feel understood.

About Me

My name is Nina Grant and I work as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with both adults and children, exploring the issues that might be getting in the way of living and learning. I work in 2 locations in North London, Muswell Hill and Camden and have had my own practice for about 11 years, and worked in schools for about 7 years.
In this therapeutic process I provide a safe space for thoughts and feelings to unfold and be explored. It is within the realms of this therapeutic relationship that insights and healing can begin.
My training is both psychoanalytic and humanistic and my approach is one that incorporates elements from both traditions.
I work with adults and children on a timescale that can be adjusted to suit the circumstances.
I can also meet with parents/carers to discuss their concerns.
Please contact me for more details and discussion.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have worked for an adoption charity and given support to the child and parents. I am interested in working with attachment styles, which have a big influence on our relationships and how we generally manage our environment.
I have worked a lot with anxiety and particularly with children and adults who have neuro-divergent aspects to their personality. There may not be awareness at all around this so the work will be about acceptance and leaning how to manage the behaviour.
I have worked with bereavement and loss and provide the space, as appropriate, for talking and exploring memories, feelings and ways to find support to manage this.
I feel this is often a forgotten aspect and can exert very powerful experiences which may not be acknowledged. Therefore it is important to explore and to be aware of these influences.
I see relationships as being the key to living a rich and rewarding life. Exploring ones relationships from our first to our current I see relationships as being the key to living a rich and rewarding life. Exploring how we manage these and what we do to help us to survive and feel safe can provide a lot of understanding as to why we do the things we do. Self awareness and understanding can be very empowering.
