We all need someone to talk to, so for me, Psychotherapy and Counselling is about having a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space to verbalise what you are feeling and experiencing.
I specialise in Integrative Psychotherapy which combines a range of different approaches, as it’s often not a case of a one size fits all approach.
My three main approaches are:
1) Psychodynamic – I believe that our childhood experiences can have a profound effect on our present adult behaviours.
2) Person-Centred – The therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist is of vital importance. A good therapeutic relationship can evoke change and as the therapist, I'm there to support clients to understand what’s happening, but also enable you to explore your emotions and feelings.
3) Gestalt – As well as verbal communication, our bodies can also communicate how we feel. Although the past can reveal a lot, the individual’s experience in the present moment can help to bring about change. For that reason, I may invite you to participate in experiential exercises, if you feel comfortable doing so.
As an NHS Psychotherapist and Counsellor, I’ve got extensive experience in the mental health sector having worked in drug and alcohol services, inpatient mental health hospitals, community counselling services and charities. I’m comfortable working with a diverse range of individuals exploring a variety of issues stemming from childhood trauma, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, bereavement, domestic abuse, sexual abuse and much more. I take an active approach to help clients move forward and I'm committed to offering a supportive and respectful personal approach.
