My Approach

As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw on the theories that speak to me through their philosophy and practice. Whilst staying focused on your needs and the relationship between us, I draw on Transactional Analysis, CBT, Attachment theory, Parts-informed and other systemic approaches. I like to bring warmth and creativity to sessions with a feeling of collaboration; we're both here to understand what feels difficult for you and together find ways that will help you feel lighter.

About Me

I'm an Integrative Psychotherapist (MSc.) trained at the Metanoia Institute, London and accredited member of UKCP since 2001. I have been in practice for 30 years in a number of face-to-face settings including private practice and NHS settings, as well as working solely Online, through an Integrative psychotherapy approach.

Since setting up my active online practice in 2010, while living as an Expat and specialising in this field, I am proficient in in the nuances of online therapy, offering sessions to UK residents and Expats living overseas via Zoom, addressing issues from relationship difficulties (and toxicity), trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, stress, identity and belonging, among them.

While I now live closer to family in the UK, I continue to offer support to Expat clients including those working for NGOs across the globe and clients who's work demands a lot of travel. I feel my own multicultural background, growing up in different countries and interest in current affairs, further enriches my understanding and passion for this work and way of life.

Prior to starting to practice online, I undertook additional training with Online Counselling and Supervision Training UK (OCST) and the Online Therapy Institute (OTI) and have been a member of ACTO since 2010.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Helping clients make sense of and heal from past and present abusive dynamics, is sadly a big part of my clinical work. Working Integratively, my practical approach is to use a language that most resonates with each individual client, while theoretically I draw from Attachment theories and Parts-informed/Systemic approaches to facilitate the processing of these difficult events, and Transactional Analysis and CBT, to address negative beliefs (about Self and others) that may surround these and may benefit from being updated.
I am very comfortable exploring questions of identity and belonging, be if from cultural, racial or social perspectives or indeed struggles in feeling reflected by our family/social environment..
We are social beings, so unsurprisingly all areas of relating are very prominent in my client work. Whether struggles come from within a relationship or difficulties finding/forming one, it is also not unusual for these issues to overlap with our past. In these instances, working individually, I offer to explore and 'cross-reference' past and present, to help clients consider areas where earlier dynamics or 'stuckness, from painful events and negative views of the Self, may be equally painfully at play. Romantic relationship sometimes take a harmful turn, where we can begin to doubt our perceived reality or struggle to break free from painful dynamics. Seeking a safe and non-judgmental support at this time, can be a most important first step towards healing.
Some events, be they sustained or time-limited, big or 'small', can be so shocking, frightening and painful that they are too much for the psyche to fully process in the moment. As a result, they often become stuck and frozen in time. Even when out of our conscious awareness they can still greatly impact our way of being, feeling and thinking. I offer an Integrated approach (as above) to processing trauma, and I am further informed by EMDR, in which I am trained, though not currently offering per se.
