Sometimes stress, anxiety, or low mood can be overwhelming. Whatever worries you about your psychological health, psychodynamic psychotherapy can usually help. It gives you the opportunity to look deeper into your problems. Working with me will help you express feelings and thoughts and - at times - explore earlier events, to gain insight into difficulties you may be experiencing in your current life.
I'm particularly experienced in the areas of loss and bereavement.\n\n As a specialism, I've also been helping people battle addictions for more than thirty years, and I understand the emotional challenges involved in achieving long-term sobriety. Clients often find me a valuable additional support as they embark on 12-step programmes for alcohol or drugs etc.
Psychodynamic work is often viewed as the most orthodox, or conventional, of the talking therapies. I’m more on the relational scale of things, so you'll probably experience me as warm and welcoming. Our sessions will often feel like a safe conversation, where you'll be able to speak freely about your concerns.
To set up an initial consultation or to discuss any questions, please call me on 07940-364905.
Psychotherapy can be the single most enriching journey a human being can undergo. If you feel like beginning, I'd like to hear from you.
I'm an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist with a specialism (30 years experience) in addictions. My practice is 3 mins from Victoria station.
I have a Postgraduate Diploma (5 years) in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice from WPF Therapy in London, one of the country's most highly-respected training institutions. I have also undertaken assessments there.
I also spent time as one of the specialist psychotherapists at the addiction unit of the Nightingale in Marylebone, London's leading private mental health hospital. I have nearly thirty years' experience in dealing with all aspects of substance abuse, addiction and recovery, both within and outside 12-step Fellowships.
As an involved father to two young kids, I've also found that clients bring parenting issues to our work. It's been hugely nourishing to sit with mums and dads as they negotiate the challenging emotional dynamics of family life.\n\n
I bring diverse experiences to my therapeutic work: I ran a derivatives trading team before training as a psychotherapist, so I understand the high-pressure modern work environment and what it can take to maintain emotional balance in contemporary life. I also have a good deal of experience of the pressures involved in pursuing a career in the arts.
I'm a member of both the BACP and the UKCP, and my clinical work is consistent with the highest ethical standards required of both professional bodies. I continue my professional development, assimilating ‘leading edge’ developments and research to enhance my clinical work.\n\nAll my work is considered in Supervision, so there are two minds considering your issues.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
