Everyday life throws up challenges which can effect our emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual state. Therapy provides a safe environment to talk about anything you want to. Exploring issues such as relationship difficulties, physical and mental health concerns, loss, self-confidence and self-esteem can make a real difference. When words are not enough... the creative arts are used alongside talking therapy to give a different perspective and help make sense of your experience.
As a Counsellor and Art Psychotherapist (Art Therapist), both talking therapy and time with the creative arts is used to express, explore, and make a mess if needed. The focus is on inner experience, your feelings, perceptions, and imagination. If you wish to use the arts, I offer traditional art materials, sand tray, sculpting materials, and printmaking.
My approach is person-centred, being compassionate and non-judgemental, listening and tailoring sessions to your individual needs. I offer both short and long-term therapy. No previous artistic skills or experience is necessary.
Finding the right therapist for yourself is important. Therefore the first session is an opportunity to meet each other, talk through your current situation and you can ask any questions you may have about Art Psychotherapy. It is a relaxed assessment session lasting around an hour.
I have always been curious and love exploring nature, witnessing and experiencing different seasons, locations, sounds, lightings and shapes The natural world helps to strengthen my own creativity and belief in the arts process as a vessel for exploration, understanding and change.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
