Hello, my focus is to work with people to create a deeper sense of connection and understanding with themselves, exploring what may be getting in the way of moving forwards, through supporting and challenging with a warm and open approach.
My integrative method incorporates psychodynamic, humanistic and contemporary relational psychotherapy models. I like to approach emotional and psychological problems in the context of the body and mind as a whole system. Please have a look at my website to find out more about me and the way I work - www.mariannejohnson.co.uk.
I hold an MA and an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, a Postgraduate Diploma in Relationship and Psychosexual Therapy, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Supervision. I am accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and practise in accordance with its code of ethics. I am also trained in EMDR therapy. Over the past ten years, I have worked within the NHS in a GP practice, as a therapist at a London drama school, and in private practice. I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, identity concerns, work-related burnout, and sexual difficulties. I am the Director of The Thought House Partnership, a group practice based in central London. I also have experience facilitating process and supervision groups at the Wessex Psychodynamic Counselling Training Institute, and have recently worked with the Trauma Foundation South West in Bristol.
I am a fully qualified, UKCP-accredited psychotherapist with an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and over ten years’ experience. I am also a clinical supervisor. I work with individuals and couples, with a particular focus on anxiety, relationship difficulties, sexual concerns, low self-esteem, and trauma. I am trained in EMDR therapy.
You may come to therapy to address a specific issue, such as anxiety, relationship difficulties, or a sudden life event, or with a more persistent and unsettling sense that something is not quite right. Many of us carry parts of ourselves that feel elusive, unwanted, or deeply painful. By working together in therapy, we can gently explore these aspects, helping you to better understand the obstacles that may be holding you back and to find healthier ways of living and relating.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
