Mine is an embodied, dialogical and relational approach. We are a relational species, who co-create our realities and experiences through our relationships, as such we co-regulate feelings, experiences, thoughts and emotions through each other. I support clients to develop a specific type of awareness (a sort of mindfulness), learning to attune to themselves in a way that acknowledges the impact that events, thoughts and the presence of others have on them and therefore the therapeutic relationship is of such a crucial importance. This provides the possibility to create space and opening for experimentation, possibility and change.
I am an experienced and professionally qualified Individual and Group Gestalt Psychotherapist with many years of experience seeing clients. I have worked in a range of counselling services, have a background in Clinical Psychology and worked in the Mental Health field.
My private practice is based in the Camden, Kings Cross area. I offer short, long and open ended individual therapy.
I practice in a relational and embodied (body-oriented) way. One of my interests is in exploring how the embodied process of client and therapist impact and co-create both our experiences in order to support the client to develop an awareness of their internal world and therefore increase the range of possibilities for choice available to them.
In my therapeutic work I tap into the inherent healing possibilities of the here and now by staying with the “what is” of the situation, focusing on the lived body experience (feelings, emotions, sensations, thoughts, images) as a way to support the development of the client's awareness in order to access more of themselves and be able to fulfil their potential. The way I work is informed by developmental and attachment theories looking at the ways we have, over the years and specially in our childhood learnt to relate to ourselves and others due to specific contexts and circumstances and how some of those ways are bringing us much suffering as they are stuck in fear.
As a Psychotherapist my aim is to create a safe, confidential and trusting space in which clients can explore whatever they find troubling. The action of seeking and seeing a therapist can be the first step to change (sometimes this in itself creates some of ‘the change needed’) and of finding those parts of ourselves we so truly yearn to re-acquaint ourselves with or discover for the very first time.
I endeavour to be a source of unconditional support through emphatic listening, a dialogical attitude and attunement to the client’s experiences and feelings. Part of what I offer is a finely developed, attuned intuition and a creative approach to healing.
I have experience of supporting a wide range of experiential issues such as depression, anxiety, anorexia, trauma, relationships difficulties, loss and bereavement, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders, addiction and alcohol related issues, sexual abuse and many other issues that are part and parcel of our human condition.
My email address is yoselonlyone@hotmail.com if you think you might be interested in approaching me to find out more.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
