I have worked for many years with those who represent a full range of human suffering. I believe that psychotherapy honours and accepts the uniqueness of the individual whose emotional pain has led to the search for help.
I believe that the quality of the therapy relationship is key to progress and change and that authenticity within this relationship is vital as is the need to establish trust, empathy and a listening ear.
I aim to make sense of what transpires within therapy which can include verbal and non verbal communications.
Together we explore beyond the immediate symptoms to find the underlying issues within the psychological, psychosexual and cultural past.
I have found that as explicit meaning emerges positive change can implicitly occur as individuals find creative ways forward which lead toward personal growth.
I have contributed to a YouTube video (Hidden) which describes the work of The Woman’s Service which I founded. In this short film I describe the principles of my work with survivors of non-recent trauma. This is available on the website of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and can be accessed via https://youtu.be/kZEGEnHsWHk
Please be aware that this NHS service is available only to patients within the Bromley district of OXLEAS NHS Trust.
Within my private practice I suggest an initial assessment consultation as a first step toward making a decision to commit to regular sessions for which I charge £80.
I qualified as a psychotherapist in 1985 and have worked ever since in senior roles in NHS mental health services and University based training settings.
I founded, developed and continue to work as Consultant Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in an award -winning specialist NHS psychotherapy service for adult survivors of child sexual abuse. In 2019 I was awarded by the British Psychoanalytic Council for my work.
