At the heart of my approach is the offer of a therapeutic relationship, a unique opportunity to use real time interactions to gain insights, help make sense of your world and experience change.
Being human brings a range of challenges throughout life. Sometimes, these challenges can be navigated with family and friends. At other times, working things through with a counsellor can offer a different space and relationship to make sense of what you are experiencing and move forward. The way in which you relate to yourself and others are key areas of change that counselling can facilitate.
Together, we can explore the challenges you face, whether they arise from within, or from life events. This is based on entering your world together, to see things as you see them and feel them as you feel them. As we do this, it can be helpful to connect with feelings in your body as well as thoughts, images, and different parts of yourself. Working in partnership to set the pace and direction, we can move between past and present, whilst looking to the future.
I hold awareness of the ways in which power and privilege operate in society and the impacts these can have on each and everyone of us. With this in mind, I offer a space in which these impacts are acknowledged and worked with on a personal level.
Hello, my name is Madeleine and I am an Integrative Counsellor, based in Ipswich, who has worked and studied in mental health for over 10 years. Before training as an Integrative Counsellor, I worked as a Mental Health Nurse in an NHS Women’s acute Mental Health ward, and then Mother and Baby Unit. This gave me a good working knowledge and experience of medical and psychosocial approaches in mental health. Moving into Counselling has allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills into a more relational and individually tailored way of working.
