My Approach

I provide weekly psychotherapy for adults. My training is primarily psychodynamic which means an in-depth focus on how our childhoods can affect us as adults. However, I take a holistic approach to psychotherapy. Because of the undeniable connection between body, mind and spirit, I may also use polyvagal therapy, meditation and yoga as part of the therapy if you are open to this. I also acknowledge that therapy is not a 'one size fits all' approach and believe there are limitations to psychodynamics, hence have trained also in modern approaches such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), existential psychotherapy and Systemic (family) therapy. I am an accredited meditation teacher and may use this in our work together.

About Me

I am an integrative psychotherapist in private practice. Working integratively means that I combine different psychotherapy modalities in order to offer therapy best tailored to you. I do not believe in a 'one size fits all' approach to psychotherapy.
The first meeting lasts 20 minutes and is free of charge as it is an opportunity for you to find out if I am the right therapist for you, and for me to make sure that I can be of help to you. All meetings take place online via Zoom and I work with people from all over the world.

I have 4 years of university level training in psychotherapy and counselling. I have a Master of Science in Psychotherapy from University of Brighton, and a Postgraduate Diploma from the same university in Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
I have 20+ years of experience in yoga and mindfulness and am a trained meditation facilitator.
I am fluent in English, Norwegian and Swedish so can provide therapy in either language.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Grief can be hard to do on our own and the help of a therapist can be very useful. I offer care and support during unsettling and difficult times of loss. I currently work with clients who are losing or have lost loved ones to cancer, dementia and suicide.
I am acutely aware of the significance of culture when it comes to our identities. Therapy can be very helpful when it comes to unpicking the myriad of feelings around wanting or fearing belonging, as well as in getting to know who we are on a deeper level. Having lived away from my country of birth for the past 27 years, I understand first hand the feelings surrounding this.
My MSc dissertation was about motherhood and maternal ambivalence. I have a particular interest in how our parents as well as parenthood affects us, and have subsequently lectured on the subject at a postgraduate level. I welcome clients who would like to talk about these often difficult and culturally unacknowledged feelings.
I work with several clients who identify at trans. Together we can explore your identity and experiences in a safe, supportive and holding environment.
In order for us to live our lives in the present, past traumas need to be processed and healed. We approach trauma gently. Here the client leads the work, getting to know their boundaries as we put the experience(s) into words. This may be complimented by physical movements in order to release trauma that is stuck in the body, or to re-establish physical boundaries and self-protection.
