My approach is that each person is unique and the task at hand is to find a shared language or way of working, which fits your needs, frames of reference and ways of being. In terms of therapeutic modalities, this means finding which elements of psychoanalytic, humanistic and eco-therapeutic approaches work best for you. Put simply, psychoanalytic approaches tend to look back at why, humanistic practice focuses more on the person you are in the process of becoming and eco-therapeutic work looks more broadly at your relationships with other humans and more-than-human others such as pets, mountains, rivers and forests to name a few.
I am mindful of how we are all shaped by our environments, experiences and interactions. I am particularly interested in how you interpret, organise and respond to your experiences, sensations and challenges. I’m also interested in how your body feels, holds, interprets and manifests experiences. I encourage you to be caring, respectful, curious, playful and committed in exploring your patterns, relationships and ways of being in the world.
I bring care, compassion, reliability, empathy, respect, warmth, honesty, tenderness, and where necessary, tenacity, to this work. I believe that in some circumstances, constructive challenge can be a cornerstone of effective therapy. It is my view that sensitive exploration at depth adds to life, even, and in some cases especially, if this feels like something you wish to avoid.
I am a Full Clinical Member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and my work is guided by their Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.
I am a Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist. I offer safe, warm and confidential spaces in Bath, in which we can explore whichever elements of your life, relationships and experiences you feel will be helpful. My aim is to support you in this process.
I offer 1:1 therapy to individuals aged 18 or over. Although I work in different spaces, normally we would meet initially at The Practice Rooms in central Bath.
