The Humanistic framework rests on the belief that every person is valuable and has the capacity to grow and achieve wellbeing. I consider that my clients have the answers they seek within themselves, I am here to facilitate the discovery of their inner resources. Instead of giving advice, I walk alongside my clients to help them navigate their situation.
In order to do this, we will work with the present of what is happening in your life, your relationships and within the therapy room. If helpful, we will also consider your past experiences and explore how these may have influenced your life. This process of empathic exploration can be healing in itself, but sometimes we may need to focus on emotional regulation and self-care, or in taking action for change. That being said, I will listen without judgement and I will honour what you chose to bring into our therapeutic space, always respecting the boundaries of what you want to keep out of the conversation.
An important guiding principle of my practice is to consider how social and environmental factor may affect my clients’ experiences. I believe working with inner processes and emotional experiences needs to come with knowledge about the lived reality of people, in regards to social class, race, ethnicity, neurotype, gender etc. and its impact on mental health and potential to thrive. I am thus committed to learning about forms of injustice to help my clients examine the impact they might have on their lives and what needs have remained unfulfilled from this. An important aspect of this work is also to reflect on resistance strategies and self-care in this context, and I am preparing to undertake research in that area.
A confidential, non-judgmental, inclusive space for weekly or fortnightly sessions, in which we can explore what is worrying you to find a way through. I have experience working in a trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirmative and culturally aware manner with a diverse population and I offer therapy sessions in English, Spanish, and French.
I hold a Master's degree in Humanistic Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute in London. In addition, I have trained as a Sophrology and Relaxation Practitioner which gives me the knowledge and experience to work with the embodied experience to help regulate ourselves. Integrating thoughts, emotions and the body can facilitate wellbeing and healing.
I am a practitioner with lived experience of mental health issues and distress. I am happy to now offer a space like the one that helped me heal in the past. I remain committed to accompany my clients and offering my knowledge, skills and experience appropriately to support them. We don’t have to be alone in this journey. I have experience working as a therapist in different agencies, in the third sector and the NHS, with a diverse client population.
Other than having experience with a diverse set of issues, my path is non-traditional. I was raised in a multi-cultural environment and have lived, studied and worked in four different countries. As a result, I am able to understand many perspectives while offering alternative points of view others might not have considered. I will also honour and respect your social and cultural perspective and value our differences and similarities.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
