My Approach

I am neurodiversity and LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I stand for trans rights. I value and respect human diversity. There are countless ways to think, feel, and sense the world that are all valid. I draw on a variety of approaches, adapting how we work to best suit you. Together, we will clarify your needs so you can better advocate for yourself and your rights.

I incorporate compassion-focused, existential, narrative, and other non-pathologising approaches. I draw on Internal Family Systems to understand different parts of the self and their roles. As a trauma-focused counsellor, I can support you to explore the effect the past is having on your present life. Together, we make sense of what happened to you to reduce its impact. Then we develop new, more effective, ways to cope.

About Me

I am a neurodivergent Integrative Counsellor, with a focus on neurodivergence and trauma counselling. I have over eight years of experience in helping people to heal from adversity, abuse, and trauma. In the past, I worked for NHS community services to support and advocate for people’s emotional health. I currently work in private practice, and with a local charity, The Sue Lambert Trust, counselling survivors of sexual violence.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Are you Autistic, otherwise neurodivergent, or questioning? I support Autistic, and otherwise neurodivergent, people to better understand your life experience. I draw on ideas from Autistic researchers, academics, and advocates. For example: monotropism, masking, the Double Empathy Problem, and Autistic burnout. We can explore your unique sensory and communication profile. This helps you to make sense of past difficulties and clarify your current needs.
I have experience counselling survivors of sexual abuse and I currently work with the Norfolk charity The Sue Lambert Trust.
Have you experienced adversity when young or as an adult? By exploring your current situation, and your past, you can make sense of what is troubling you now. This includes recognising your strengths, as well as challenges. Are your usual coping strategies still working well for you? If not, we can find different, more effective, ways to respond that suit you and your current life better.
