I work at relational depth, and I believe that human distress and despair, arises relationally often within social, political, cultural and historical contexts. Particularly when those experiences have been traumatic, developmentally challenging, or extremely emotionally neglectful. The outcome of which is unhelpful patterns of relating and can perpetuate self-sabotaging patterns, which impacts on self-esteem and confidence.
Having the opportunity to talk about the difficulties you are experiencing in a space to reflect on what keeps you in a place of unhappiness, despair or distress is incredibly useful and can help to facilitate change. In a collaborative way, we will explore troubling patterns, thoughts and reactions to facilitate insight, which provides opportunities to consider different ways of thinking, behaving, responding, and reacting.
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Supervisor having trained with Metanoia Institute, achieving an MSc Integrative Psychotherapy, along with a certificate in Supervision. I draw from an integrative relational approach and I am not aligned to one therapeutic stance. I integrate a framework of different models, and techniques which I use creatively and flexibly for each individual I work with.
I am interested in the quality of relationships, with self and others, and the unique social, cultural and life experiences which are influential to who we are. I have a particular interest in traumatic developmental experiences and how this creates patterns of relating with self and others in adulthood, and will perpetuate cycles of distress and emotional difficulties.
A priority when working with you is to establish a safe, trusting, mutually respectful and collaborative relationship, in order that we can explore key issues that have contributed to a decision to come into therapy.
