My practice is an integration of Humanistic modalities, including Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt, Relational Psychoanalysis, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Humanistic psychotherapy prizes your innate capacity to heal and self-actualize. So we work to understand the internal and external forces that might constrain this natural tendency towards growth, as well as the resources that support and strengthen it. I work with body awareness and mindfulness principles to support clients in moving at their own pace with a sense of safety, presence and self-compassion.
Research shows that the key to good outcomes in therapy is not a matter of modality or technique. Rather, it's held in the relationship of equality, mutuality and trust between client and therapist. I keep this principle central to my practice.
I welcome you, and whatever you bring to therapy, in confidence and without judgement. Believing that you have an innate capacity to heal, I work in alliance with your own insightful awareness, authentic self-expression and creativity to support your search for meaning, belonging and purpose.
I work with a range of issues, including: anxiety, depression, trauma, adverse childhood experiences, abuse, illness, bereavement and loss, discrimination and oppression, workplace problems, family and relationship problems, identity conflicts, and life transitions.
I have a Master of Science and a postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute in London. I've been an Alexander Technique teacher for 12 years and I've studied and practised somatic meditation and mindfulness for 30+ years. My previous professional background is in Education, Research and International Development.
