My Approach

I am flexible and approachable. I will help you understand your symptoms and support you in a safe, warm and collaborative environment.

About Me

I am a Psychotherapist, Couple Counsellor and Mediator working with young people, adults and couples. I hold a PhD and specialize in working with people suffering from medically unexplained symptoms (MUS) and chronic pain. For example, IBS, migraine headaches, dizziness, back ache and auto-immune diseases such as arthritis and MS. Some people find it difficult to get in touch with their emotions or talk about feelings. Sometimes this can can be expressed in the body, causing pain and discomfort. I also work with women facing infertility issues, mild to moderate depression or bipolar disorder. I have post qualification experience working in the NHS and in a private psychiatric Harley Street clinic.

My professional experience began over 20 years ago as a volunteer counsellor in primary schools, and working for Relate as a Couple Counsellor and trainer. I have consulted in the NHS hospital sector, working in an outpatient unit of a psychiatric clinic, with people who have more complex mental health diagnoses. My approach incorporates psychoanalytic and integrative approaches. This means that I draw from a variety of different theoretical models to meet your individual needs, including CBT. I work face to face, on the phone, Skype or your place of work.

I work with a diverse range of ethnicities, cultures and difference in a non-judgemental way that sets the foundation for an effective therapeutic relationship. My interest lies in neuroscience and the relationship between the intimate and extraordinary connection between mind and body. I am committed and dedicated to understanding the human condition and engage in regular continued professional development, to ensure I maintain a high level of clinical excellence.

Choosing the right therapist is an important part of the process and can sometimes feel a little daunting, so please feel free to call me with any questions that you might have. You will find my full CV on linkedin and further information on my website. Thank you for reading my profile, and I wish you all the best in your search for a suitable therapist.
