I am a UKCP Psychodrama Psychotherapist and qualified in October 2015. I have an MA in Dramatherapy and am State Registered with HCPC since 2004. I received a UKCP and BPA approved Creative Clinical Supervision certificate in 2017. I have completed considerable CPD to inform my practice both with adults and children. My most recent CPD was to undertake a level 1 Theraplay training certificate and a DDP Level 1 training achieved in November 2021.
I use a combination of creative and embodiment techniques in my work. These techniques originate from my Psychodrama, Dramatherapy and Psychodramatic Bodywork trainings as well as other CPD trainings and services I have worked on across the last 20 years.
I am reflective and curious in my approach which offers people the space to experience mentalisation and attunement in the dyad between us. I believe this provides the people I work with with a sense of autonomy. I am also person-centred and consider myself to work in a systemic way.
My name is Kathryn (Kat) Salisbury and I currently co run a face to face fortnightly therapy group in Sheffield city centre. This is an ongoing group for adults which opens for new intakes every 6 months (March and September). I also co run a monthly ONLINE creative supervision group for counsellors and psychotherapists as well as offer one to one supervision (online) and face to face therapy sessions.
Additional to my work with adults I have extensive experience of working with children and their families. My work with children began during my Dramatherapy training at the University of Derby. I have been qualified since 2004 and my working world has involved working with children as a Therapist at the NSPCC for almost 16 years (January 2006-November 2021). Additional CPD during this time has included ‘Minding the Baby’ training (UCL and Yale University), ‘Mentalisation and Reflective’ functioning at the Anna Freud Centre in London and ‘Letting the Future In’ (a therapeutic service for young people who have experienced sexual abuse, recognised by the NICE guidelines). All these trainings I completed and then worked on these services as a therapist for many years. My working world has been bound up with many approaches to care for children’s emotional wellbeing. My day to day work currently involves working as a therapist working with children and their families experiencing complex trauma and dissociation. I am registered with the HCPC Council and ESTD Council as well as UKCP.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
