I offer a safe, supportive environment in which we can explore and make meaning of your experiences, and work together to make positive, impactful changes in your life. I bring warmth, compassion, and curiosity to the therapeutic relationship.
As an integrative therapist, I have been trained to draw on a range of appropriate theories and techniques to meet your distinctive needs.
My work draws on the power of the therapeutic relationship to achieve insight and change. I frequently work with theories of attachment and development to help explore and change unhelpful patterns in behaving and relating. Research from contemporary neuroscience contributes to the evidence base for my therapeutic practice and informs my approach to attachment-based issues, anxiety, and the regulation of emotion.
I also use Transactional Analysis (TA), a humanistic theory of personality that helps us to understand how we relate to ourselves and others. TA involves a collaborative approach, in which client and therapist work together towards mutually agreed goals. While our therapy will often involve exploring the past, I sometimes use Gestalt techniques to sharpen our focus on action in the here-and-now.
I have been trained to work safely and effectively with a range of creative methods, including sand tray, clay, and guided imagery. These methods can introduce a sense of play into the therapeutic space, but they can also be very powerful tools for working with our feelings and memories.

I’m a fully qualified, experienced practitioner, registered as both a psychotherapist and a counsellor with the UKCP and the BACP. I also work as a university lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Beyond private practice, I have experience in an NHS setting, and have worked effectively with a full range of issues, including complex cases. I've provided therapy to a diverse range of clients, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community, older clients, and trainee counsellors and therapists.
Before working full-time as a therapist, I was a senior academic in the field of English Literature. Many of my research publications engage with psychological and psychoanalytic concepts, including trauma. I draw on this academic background in my rigorous approach to treatment planning, where I engage with up-to-date research to provide evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
