As a psychotherapist, my approach is integrative, with a humanistic and existential perspective. At the heart of my practice is the client-psychotherapist relationship. I consider the relationship central to my work, believing it to hold vast therapeutic potentials. I hope to offer you a sense of holding, providing a containing environment in order to make the experience more manageable, so that we can explore material on a deep and profound level.
I welcome creativity and authenticity during our sessions. The arts can often defy the limitations of language and provide meaning and clarity to unvoiced emotions you may be feeling. The arts can be used to amplify an inner language, which is initially non-verbal, to help you gain insight and understanding into your life.
No previous experience of being artistic is required. Using art materials during a psychotherapy session is another way to express your-self, so it is therefore the process of creating we are looking at rather than the finished product. As you engage with the arts you will create your own unique way of working with the materials, letting go of self-criticism, and accepting that there is no right or wrong, in Art Psychotherapy. We will find a way of working together that best suits you.
