Challenges regularly occur in the normal course of our lives. We are often able to meet these with our own inner resources and with support from those that are close to us (family and friends). However some life challenges can creep up on us, or be unexpected and can knock us off course. Our familiar coping strategies and patterns of responding can seem overwhelmed by circumstances. Our usual supportive relationships can seem out of reach which can leave us all feeling isolated and alone.
If such difficulties persist and attempts to resolve them feel stuck, therapy can be useful. Therapy aims to support individuals and family members to begin to safely talk about their concerns, increasing understanding, identifying resources within individuals and family members, and nurturing preferred ways of living in the future.
I work with individuals, couples and family groups in a non-judgemental way, aiming to be respectful of each person’s beliefs, culture, life experiences and differences. Together we can explore your particular situation and how we might work towards the changes you would like to see in your life. People bring a range of concerns to therapy including, family relationships, parenting issues, step family issues, one or more family members struggling with mental health difficulties (anxiety, depression, psychosis…), difficulties from the past affecting current relationships, illness and loss.

I have 20 years’ experience of working therapeutically with people across the age range. I have worked with children, young people and their families in the NHS, in Eating Disorders, and General Child and Adolescent Mental Health (anxiety, OCD, depression, psychosis, self-harm, communication difficulties). As well as working with adults and their families in Assertive Outreach and for the Family Interventions for Psychosis Team. Prior to this I worked in neuro-rehab (head injuries, stroke, and multiple sclerosis) as an Occupational Therapist.
