My Approach

As a Family & Systemic Psychotherapist, my approach is primarily 'systemic', aiming to help people improve their relationships, understand and change the patterns of their behaviours, and view their personal narratives and those in their family system through a range of lenses, taking careful and thoughtful steps to consider alternative stories that may be more helpful. I am also trained as an EMDR trauma therapist which I use to help clients process past traumas that may be affecting their life. As a trainer of Humanistic Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (to Diploma level) I can blend other modalities that include person-centred approaches.

About Me

I am a qualified teacher, Parenting Trainer and pre-marriage coach, and I run two independent Family & Couples Psychotherapy practices in North West London (Golders Green) and North London (Stamford Hill) where I see individuals, couples, parents and families. I also welcome Zoom, Skype, Whatsapp Video and telephone clients from any geographical location across the UK or worldwide.

Family & Systemic Psychotherapy looks to improve relationships and communication within families and couples, and helps to replace the problem-saturated stories that have become dominant in their lives with more positive ways of being that respect individual contexts, religious beliefs and values, and offer hope for the future.

I am particularly interested in the impact of mental health issues, disability and learning difficulties on individuals and their carers/families and I have worked extensively with couples in conflict and parents and children in separated or single-parent families, or those in blended families after forming new relationships.

I have found that individuals, couples and families appreciate my offering them a safe and non-judgemental space to talk about their experiences, and the impact on self, family and relationships brought about by mental health, disability, conflict, illness, loss and bereavement, as well as separation, divorce and remarriage.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I set up and supervise a helpline for victims of abuse and I am acutely aware of the impact any form of abuse can have on the lives, relationships and mental health of those who have unfortunately suffered. I am sensitive to their pain and aim to provide a safe space to explore past experiences and to find a way forward from the trauma.
I am a qualified Parenting Consultant and I work with parents to provide strategies and guidance on managing their children's challenging behaviour with particular interest in support for parents whose children have a diagnosis of ADD, ADHD, ASD or ODD (and am happy to debate the value of having such a label!)
As a strictly orthodox Jew, I work equally with clients who have a religious affiliation or none; I do not impose my beliefs on my clients and am comfortable to name and own the values that shape my own lived experience - but always without judgement. I welcome discussion about the place of spirituality in therapy and am happy to share cilents' interest in exploring religious ideas and the place for morality in an ever-changing world.
As a trained EMDR therapist, I use EMDR and Flash Techniques to reduce the impact of past traumas, integrating it within the safety of a strong therapeutic relationship
