From a starting point of shared humanity, I commit to showing up to build a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship as a foundation from which to explore your experiences in your important relationships. Focusing on strengths and working collaboratively with you, my practice is to ask questions with you with the aim of opening possibilities and choices for differences to grow in your life and relationships.
Once we have found an agreed focus, our work may involve careful navigation through sensitive dilemmas, discomfort, and unexamined beliefs, exploring the impact on relationships in your life, as well as potentially untapped resources. The meaning of interactions within and across systems we are involved in, such as family, school, community and work, will be considered throughout. Bringing my creative skills and flexibility, I hope to open space in which to reflect on your experience in your important relationships, offering possibilities and choices for how this might look different.
I am committed to justice-doing in my therapeutic practice, continually considering the impact of wider social and political power structures and how they impact on our lives and relationships at the level of everyday experience.
As a UKCP registered Systemic Psychotherapist I have been trained to exacting standards to work with a wide range of issues, but have particular experience and interest in the areas highlighted below.
I am an experienced Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, working with people across the lifespan. My work is trauma-informed and explores possibilities and change in relationships.
I aim to meet you wherever you are in your lives in a way that connects for you, working with you to foster hope and negotiate obstacles to connection, whatever you may be facing.
I have been working with families, couples, families of choice, and individuals across the lifespan in the public and charity sectors in a range of roles for over 20 years, and in independent practice for the last two years. Previous roles include Family Therapist in an NHS Tier 4 in-patient service, Clinician in Children’s Social Care, Family and relationship therapist for Relate, and Cogwheel Counselling. As well as working independently, I currently also work as a Family therapist with the Cambridge Acorn Project, offering systemic psychotherapy for families in the context of trauma, abuse, and social inequality.
