Building a trusting relationship is the key to successful therapy. There is no manual to work from as therapy is different for everyone and your sessions will be based on your own individual needs and your specific aims. I believe everyone has the power to change and make changes in their life however sometimes we need a little help in making them. I use a number of different modalities in my work with clients however TA (Transactional analysis) forms a large part of my work with clientsTA helps us to understanding the relationships we form with others. It focuses on empowering individuals, with an emphasis on open and equal dialogue between client and therapist. It is an approach used in psychotherapy, counselling, education and organisational development. As well as providing a theory of personality, Transactional Analysis offers a range of models that can be used to explain communication and relationships. These models can help identify what goes wrong in communication and how to interact for a better outcome. Many TA concepts are simple to learn and apply, making them very accessible and effective in the therapy room.
I (She, Her), am an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor based in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
I work with trauma, relationship issues, general anxiety and depression, identity and LGBTQ+ issues. I am part of the LGBTQ+ community myself and understand how this can impact your life past and present. Every persons experience is individual and together we will make sense of past experiences a find a way to move forward.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
