I work from a relational and developmental perspective with the thinking that the person we are today was formed in our earliest relationships. I hold the view that who we are is not fixed, we have the capacity to change if we want to and in the right circumstances.
I would help you to explore your thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations and behaviour to allow you to achieve greater self-awareness, more fulfilment in life and to become the person you want to be.
It may be there are patterns that are repeatedly showing up in your relationships and life experiences that are holding you back and stopping you from getting what you want. We can look at where these patterns have come from and explore ways of doing things differently.
I bring my knowledge, skills, experience, perspective and intuition into our work together but I hold the belief that you are the expert on yourself. I want you to find your way, your voice and be able to make your own choices; I will be alongside you, supporting you with empathy and compassion to get to where you want to be.
The therapeutic space with me would be an opportunity for you to experience a relationship where you are accepted for the person you are without judgement or criticism; where you can say ‘no’; where you can challenge me if I’m not getting it right.
I offer a free initial 20-minute phone or video call for us to discuss what brings you to therapy and how I might be able to support you. This would give you the chance to ask any questions and get a feel for how I am. Otherwise, we would start with a 60-minute assessment session in-person or online.
I am an integrative psychotherapist holding sessions with people in-person or online from my therapy room in the centre of Derby or we can move outside into the supportive surroundings of nature.
Finding a therapist can be a daunting prospect and therapy itself can be challenging as well as offering experiences of deep healing. I aim to create a warm and accepting space for you to feel as safe as possible to explore what is troubling you and to guide you in finding an easier way forward.
